Watermark Fisheries

The Watermark fisheries offers a range of lakes to suit all specimen anglers needs, from the inland sea that is Bradley’s to the beautiful intimate four and a half acre specimen carp lake. With Lake 6 and the jet ski lake holding some huge pike the Watermark offers both specimen carp and pike fishing.

There is an on site shop with a full range of tackle and bait available. All anglers using the complex can use the toilet and shower block on the Horseshoe premises.

Little Horseshoe lake (Specimen carp lake

The specimen carp lake is available on a day and night ticket which can be purchased on site or on the bank. This lake has a good stock of carp to 30lb+ with many fish between 18-26lb. A common of 30.14 was recently caught to set a lake record. Other big fish have been spotted in the crystal clear margins but as yet have not been put on the bank. This mature lake has a superb aura surrounding it, as it was one of the first lakes along with Ashlea Pool excavated on the Water Park. This lake holds an original stock of leney fish that are over 50 years old. Depths on this lake vary from a couple of feet down to 26 feet with gravel bars, silt patches and clay humps plenty. Snag trees adjourn the reed-fringed banks as well as Lillie pads dotted around the margins. A perfect water to stalk or to set your stall out for a big fish.

Method and tactics

Ledger boiles take the fair share of carp with Cotswold Bait Creations tock Special boile catching most of the fish this year. Large beds of pellet and boile are the going method so far. Finding the clear patches amongst the weed both at range and under the rod tip producing the best results. Surface fishing with floating dog biscuit is little used but a killer tactic in the summer. Scale down to 10lb line and size 10 hook for best results. Stalking the margins early morning can reveal big carp feeding in shallow water, a superb way to catch your quarry.

Tickets

The specimen carp lake can be fished on a day and night ticket at £10per day and £17 per 24 hours. A season ticket for this lake costs £260 and runs from the month that you join.

For £360 per year the Watermark also offers a golden scale syndicate the gives access to Little horseshoe, Bradley’s lake, lake 6 and the jet ski lake all offering carp to 35+ and pike to over 30. A new pike syndicate is being formed this year to fish Lake 6 and the jet ski lake for £100 from Oct-March, any one interested in the 35 places available please contact the fishery to add your name to the list. All lakes are open year round.
